PRAY - Introduction

I’m walking down the street in San Francisco, CA on a cool sunny day, you can smell the freshly baked bread in the air from a nearby bakery, when somebody calls out to me “hey, nice shirt”, I reply “thank you”! Continuing my travels, I get on the bus and somebody sitting next to me says “cool shirt man, where’d you get it?” I get off the bus and start walking to my destination, another random stranger walking by says “hey, what does your shirt mean?” I begin to explain that it simply means PRAY, no hidden meaning behind the shirt or something clever to confuse people who read it, but simply PRAY. How can a simple t-shirt, with the words PRAY, create so many conversations with strangers on the street?

Prayer, defined by Merriam-Webster dictionary is as follows: “a solemn request for help or expression of thanks addressed to God or an object of worship.”Prayer is worship to God no doubt, but I would go a little bit further to simplify the meaning of the word prayer. Prayer is simply you conversing with the Almighty God. Different religions have slightly different beliefs, but something common among all is prayer. I personally believe that there is a living God and you can talk to Him any time you desire, for He is only a breath away. Prayer is a powerful thing and you can see, just from wearing a shirt that people are very attracted to it. What is it that attracts people to it? Why do total strangers suddenly feel the confidence to spark up a conversation about it when they see it on a t-shirt?

In the next few weeks I will try to answer these questions in depth, in a "PRAY Blog Series", and explain why prayer is so powerful.
